#whenthisisover I will make more art. … During this time of sheltering in place, I’ve rekindled my relationship with my own creative self, pursuing little projects just for fun as a form of play, expression and processing. I’ve been loving the low-stakes, art-for-art’s-sake, nobody-cares, creative freedom I can find in my own living room on my own terms. I’m not burdening myself too much with what it all means. I’m practicing not being attached to the end result or how it’s received. In the recent before times, I hadn’t been giving myself the space for this and when I did, serial overthinking often smothered my doing of the thing. This is a welcome change. Being more carefree and prolific is downright therapeutic right now. Creation is just another form of love, really—and for me, that’s what life is all about. Here’s a #wip #selfportrait. #WhenThisIsOver I will focus even more on supporting small businesses over large corporations. So many small businesses are being forced to shut their doors due to the pandemic, while big corporations put their employees at risk without proper support. As a small business owner myself (professional #voiceover artist and #videoeditor here!), I would like to make more of an effort to shop small and support folks who treat their customers and employees with dignity. I watched my papa build a business and regularly sacrifice his own comfort for the benefit of his employees. #whenthisisover I will hold my sister ♥️ This pandemic has definitely taught me to never take time with my family for granted. A few weeks ago, my little sister ended up in the hospital with viral meningitis. Due to all of the restrictions surrounding COVID-19, no one in my family could be with her, and knowing that she was in pain and alone was truly one of the most helpless feelings of my life. I am so thankful she has made a full recovery and I am counting down the days until I get to hug her again. I want to say “thank you” to all of the nurses who took such great care of my baby sis when I couldn’t. I’d also like to say thank you to all of the frontline healthcare workers and first responders who are sacrificing their own health to look after the health of others during this crisis. My sister is also a nurse. The last picture is of her in nursing school standing below the quote, “Humanity holds the power to help people heal.” This statement has never been more true, and it is a good reminder that compassion, love and empathy are perhaps the strongest medicines. I was tidying up my hard drive (#BoredAF), and decided to make something from all my random iPhone videos. Social-distancing has been hard, so I wanted to leave all of you a voice message hehe. This was a fun lil experiment. It was a nice trip down memory lane (#FBF amiright?), and a good excuse to mess with Adobe Premiere. Although honestly, I think I just needed a reminder that it won’t always be like this. #WhenThisIsOver I can’t wait to spend time with you in person. As some of you may know, I often work with an amazing group of artists @poetickinetics. Their next piece, #ChangeintheAir, will incorporate messages like this.
